DJ and media personality Thuli P has officially stepped into her music era with the release of her debut EP, Avana. Known to many South Africans as Namhla Diale from Generations: The Legacy, Thuli P is now turning the spotlight inward, asserting her voice in the male-dominated Private School Amapiano genre with confidence, intention and emotional depth.
Avana is a carefully curated five-track body of work that blends smooth, mid-tempo Amapiano grooves with personal storytelling and cultural authenticity. From the outset, the EP makes it clear that Thuli P is not approaching music as a side venture or celebrity crossover. Instead, she presents herself as a fully formed musical force, grounded in self-expression, community and sonic elegance, while remaining keenly aware of the modern digital landscape.
The project is anchored by its lead single, “Kube Kuya Ngam”, which translates to “If it were up to me.” The track serves as a powerful affirmation of hope, peace and prosperity. Featuring Pronic DeMusiq and Tman Xpress, the song rides on bass-heavy production layered with uplifting gospel-inspired refrains. Together, the trio manifest abundance and well-being, delivering an anthemic moment that feels both spiritually rich and emotionally resonant.
Across the EP, Thuli P collaborates with a dynamic lineup of artists who help shape Avana’s textured soundscape without overshadowing her presence. Kay Invictus, Nia Pearl and Leandra Vert join her on “Mali”, adding melodic depth and warmth, while “Molo” features Omit ST, Lioness Ratang and Umthakathi Kush, offering a soulful and welcoming energy. On “No Need To Suffer”, Pcee complements Thuli P’s message of resilience and self-assurance, rounding off the project with emotional clarity.
Each collaboration feels intentional, enhancing the EP’s themes while keeping Thuli P firmly at the centre of the narrative. Her vocal delivery balances softness and strength, reflecting both vulnerability and confidence – qualities that define the overall mood of Avana.
With this debut, Thuli P not only introduces herself as a musician but also emerges as a tastemaker and storyteller. Avana brings spiritual undertones, femininity and purpose into Amapiano’s evolving Private School lane, signalling an artist who is ready to take up space with clarity, confidence and a distinct creative vision.
