Uncool MC has carved out a name for himself in the amapiano scene, bringing sharp lyrics, high-energy performances, and the ability to command any stage. But the road to recognition wasn’t always straightforward. Speaking to The Journalist DJ, the Kwa Thema-born artist unpacked his remarkable journey from party MC to recording powerhouse.
“I came up like a rapper, but I’m an Amapiano artist,” Uncool MC reflected. His roots trace back to the hustle of hyping parties and keeping crowds entertained, skills that eventually shaped his presence as a performer and recording artist.
The pivotal breakthrough came when a friend introduced him to DJ Maphorisa. “He called me to the studio and said, ‘Come with your A-game.’ That’s exactly what I did—and I didn’t look back,” Uncool recalled. That opportunity opened doors into the amapiano space, where his voice and writing quickly found a home.
For years, many fans assumed that Uncool hailed from Daveyton. However, he has now set the record straight. “I’m proudly from Kwa Thema in the East Rand,” he clarified. “I can’t really explain it, but the East just breeds talent—it’s in our blood.”
Looking ahead, Uncool MC has no plans of slowing down. He is currently gearing up for Sun-Daze Presents Summer Daze, his very own showcase set to take place on 5 October in Kwa Thema, Springs. The event is expected to highlight his artistry while giving a platform to others in the community.
He also teased the possibility of a new project on the horizon. “Maybe an EP before the end of the year or early next year,” he said, staying tight-lipped about the details. When asked about potential collaborators, Uncool hinted at surprises but kept names under wraps. “I’m big on collaboration. I work with a lot of people. You’ll see. I can’t name drop right now, but just know it’s going to be fire.”
Closing his reflection, Uncool MC left fans with a heartfelt message: “Stay true, stay focused, stay positive. God loves you. Love yourself.”
From his beginnings on the mic at parties to lighting up the amapiano stage, Uncool MC’s story is one of perseverance, community pride, and a vision that continues to grow.
