Mdu Aka TRP Reacts To Being Lalled The Creator Of Log Drum. Mdu aka TRP is arguably the biggest Amapiano producer in South Africa right now! The young star whose real name is Keith Mduduzi is One of Amapiano’s finest act that has brought change to the Amapiano and house industry.
Mdu aka TRP started as a house producer but after going into full collaboration with Bongza he decided to expand on the newly created Amapiano sound. The log drum, which is heavily used throughout amapiano music, has been credited for the huge success of the genre since it sparked global fame in the late 2010s.
In an interview with Kaya 959, Mdu Aka TRP explained: “There’s no such thing as a King of Amapiano, no one can say: ‘Yeah, I own this sound. There are always guys who reinvent the genre and put out amazing work, but no one can call me that. I just do what I do, and I don’t care about what anyone thinks. It’s about what I’m happy to put out,” he said.
The genre broke into the mainstream in 2019 and has since birthed stars such as De Mthuda, MFR Souls, Kabza De Small, Josiah De Disciples, Kamo Mphela, Mr. JazziQ, Vigro Deep, and Musa Keys, just to mention a few.
