Pcee Opens Up About Releasing ‘Zotata’ Same Week As Kelvin Momo Was Dropping His Project. Amapiano star Khulekani Nxumalo has been making waves with his major singles ‘Zotata ‘ and ‘Kilimanjaro’ which created dance challenges that saw masses partaking in them.
Pcee says ‘Zotata’ changed his life. “I even have a tattoo of Zotata. Zotata is basically a song of appreciating success and acknowledging that you can get there. It is basically a celebration song. I remember when I was recording that song, it was very hot in the studio, like very hot. The air conditioner was not even working, but I used that as motivation to make the song more hot than I was feeling. When I dropped Zotata, it had been years of releasing songs but without success. So when I finally made it into the mainstream by releasing ‘Zotata’ and it being popular, I could not believe that I’d finally arrived.”
Pcee spoke on how Tik Tok has had a huge influence on his career. “So the challenge became a huge thing on Tik Tok, and we decided to jump in. There was me in the middle, and all the comments were just talking about me. And when i realized how big the song was yooo i couldn’t believe it.”
Pcee says when the track was making waves on Tik Tok, it was the week Focalistic and Kelvin Momo were about to release their projects. But ‘Zotata’ kept thriving through it all. I felt pressure though when I had to officially release the track on the same day as the bigs stars, i even went to a room and prayed. All I wanted was to hit the numbers. So we waited about a few days, and the song went so big and even amassed over 1 million views on YouTube.”
