About a few weeks ago, the timeline debated whether the young DJ was really talented at her job or whether she was benefiting from “pretty privilege” and also her dress code. Many have taken to the social media app to question why the DJ seems to have a proclivity for wearing revealing underwear while performing. However, some tweeps and celebs have shown her nothing but love and support.
Media personality Lasizwe has recently shared a video of himself wearing a thong. The YouTuber shared that he was inspired by popular DJ Uncle Waffles, also giving himself the name ‘Aunty pancakes’. He first shared a video in a shop purchasing a black thong which looks like the ones Uncle Waffles wears to her gigs, and later shared pictures posing in a thong.
Despite the occasional criticism, Uncle Waffles has been on an impressive run DJing at several gigs every weekend for the past few months all across the country. Just last month, she completed a continental tour that saw her perform in Ghana, Nigeria, Tanzania, Kenya and Namibia.
The likes of DJ Zinhle are amongst those who’ve shown Waffles support. DJ Zinhle has slammed tweeps who are coming at internet sensation DJ Uncle Waffles sideways over how she dresses. This was after a video of the DJ’s set went viral on Twitter and some tweeps flooded the TLs with their disapproval of her G-string game. Some tweeps said her choice of clothing was inappropriate for a DJ. The Siyabonga hitmaker took to Twitter to slam people dragging Waffles.“It’s on her body, so it’s OK. She hasn’t asked anyone else to wear it. If you don’t like it that’s also OK but let’s learn to let people be,” Zinhle said.
