5 Things You Should Know About The Lowkeys. A year ago, the streets and the airwaves agreed that Amapino had transitioned from the underground, taken over mainstream broadcast, created household names and become the definitive sound for this era in South African music. In the short time since younger producers and DJs, mostly new to the industry have been moulding the future of the Amapiano sound and gaining recognition for it.

Here are 5 Things you should know about The Lowkeys:

1. The trio is made up of three members by the names of Mongezi Mashabela who is a drummer, pianist Lethabo Monyai and DJ Ofentse Gama.

2. The Lowkeys met in 2016, and they formed the group same year.

3. Before they started doing amapiano, the trio trio decided were doing. “We decided to make an Amapiano song, shared it on Whatsapp and it trended in our hood. From our hood, it went viral. Amapiano is our lifestyle in general besides the PR and the TV.”

4. The Lowkeys in particular have collaborated with a lot of the talented names on the scene including Drip Gogo, DJ Mohamed, Lamiez Hollworthy, DJ Sumbody, Cassper Nyovest and many more.

5. They have popular hits like Bella Ciao, Stoko, Iyamemeza, Dom Pérignon, including many others.
