Shimza Reveals Why Afro/House DJs Are Resorting To Playing Amapiano. Shimza is unquestionably one of South Africa’s brightest talents who has made the transition from aspirant industry young blood to leading light of the global afro house scene at almost breakneck speed.

Shimza revealed why Afro/House DJs are resorting to playing amapiano. From his perspective, is because mainstream venues hardly play their music and as a result, is a bad move for the Afro/House culture as DJs have to resort to playing amapiano. He also mentioned that its only a few of those artists who aren’t doing amapaino working at the moment. He wrote, “Mainstream venues hardly play Afro/house, it has become “exclusive” and that’s not good for the culture, we end up having to create and play amapiano bootlegs and vocals so we can make sense. Only a few artists and djs who don’t do ampiano are working in SA.”

In case you missed it, DJ Maphrisa recently asked that the likes of DJ Black Coffee, Shimza and Heavy K should play amapiano music in their sets. Even though they are not Amapiano DJs, their impact in the industry is so massive that them playing the songs will elevate the genre and its movement. Heavy K responded by saying his 10 years in the industry allows him to be flexible and experiment with other sounds. Even though he can handle Amapiano and House music, he wants to try out other things. “Me I can handle both House and Amapiano, Porry. It marks 10 years of Heavy K this year and I’ll be introducing my other production strong points. It’s necessary for me. To my day-one fans, I’ll never leave you behind but allow me to experiment,” he replied.

Shimza on the other hand said it does not seem right for all of them to be doing the same thing because their goals are not set out the same. He replied, “We can’t all do the same thing because we all have different goals and paths in our careers, ma brother. You guys are doing perfectly fine without us and it’s amazing to watch from the outside! Keep going! We here to support.”
