5 Amapiano Artists Who Own Music Recording Labels. With amapiano being the biggest and fastest growing sound at the moment, artists have resorted to opening their own record labels to scout new talent and also for the ownership of masters for their own music.

Here are 5 amapiano artists who own record labels:

DJ Maphorisa

DJ Maphorisa, a well known South African producer and musician, has given us countless hits over the last 5 years. He has worked with major artists including Wizkid, Drake, Mafikizolo, Major Lazer and Nasty C to name a few. His passion is to unearth new talent through the Blaqboy Music, his record label which recently partnered with Sony Music. 

Mr JazziQ

Alexandra-born Mr JazziQ who first emerged as one-half of JazziDisciples, is a South African DJ and producer who has since released a numerous hit songs that played an important role in Amapiano’s rapid journey from the township into the heart of the mainstream. And now, in 2021, Tumelo Manyoni has his eyes on a bigger prize: using his homegrown success to take over the global music scene. Mr JazziQ own a record label named ‘Black Is Brown’. He wants to turn his label, Black is Brown Entertainment “into the biggest label in the world”. “Not just the biggest label in South Africa – but the biggest in the world,” he said.

Kabza De Small

Kabelo Petrus Motha, better known by his stage name Kabza De Small, is a South African DJ and record producer. He is now referred to as the ‘King of Piano’ by Mzansi. In November 2018, he gained attention by releasing songs, “Amabele Shaya” and “Umshove”, respectively, featuring guest vocals by the amapiano counterpart, Leehleza. He is considered as one of the best-selling music artists of amapiano, and also one of the pioneers of the genre. With his breakthrough in 2018, he played an instrumental role in popularizing the amapiano genre. Kabza owns a record label called ‘Piano Hub’.

Kamo Mphela

Amapiano dancer, songwriter and vocalist Kamo Mphela recently opened her own record label company named ‘Kamo Mphela Entertainment’ where under it, she releasd her hit song ‘Nkulunkulu’. “Nkulunkulu” is the lead single and title track to her forthcoming project, which is expected to drop on the 9th of April. The 4-track EP features some of amapiano’s biggest names including Vigro Deep, MFR Souls, Reece Madlisa, Zuma, Major League DJz and more.

Major League DJz

Major League DJz are South African hip-hop/kwaito music band consisting of the twin brothers Bandile and Banele Mbere. played with such famous DJs as DJ Fresh, Euphonik, Roger Goode, DJ Trauma, DJ Drama, and DJ Woo Kid. They have also performed on the same stage as some international artists such as Kanye West and Kid Cudi. The suo own a record label called ‘Major League Music’.
