10 Things You Should Know About Nia Pearl. Mzansi’s amapiano vocalist and sensation Nia Pearl has carved her name in the music industry, more specifically the amapiano genre. She is the vocalist behind the famous song ‘Nia Lo’ by Piano King, kabza De Small.

Here are 10 things you should know about Nia Pearl:

1 Nia Pearl’s real name is Peleka Lwana 

2 She was born on 25 December 1990 was born and raised in Mthatha, Eastern Cape

3 She graduated in 2013 after completing her degree in music.

4  In April 2017, she released her debut single Liberty which featured SAMA award winning musician Kabomo.

5 Nia Pearl is signed under Universal Music record label.

6 She got inspired by her sisters to start writing her own songs.

7 2014, she performed at The Standard Bank Joy of Jazz festival in Johannesburg. She also participated in the Castle Milk Stout music competition organized by Metro Fm. In 2015, she performed at The Nescafe Red Mugg sessions.

8 Nia Pearl sang for DJ Maphorisa at a shopping centre. “I was walking with my sister at a shopping centre and we bumped into Maphorisa, I then asked to sing for him and he agreed so I sang. And the rest is history,” Pearl added.

9 She gained popularity for her collaborations with South African dance producers such as DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small.

10 In 2020, she collaborated with Kabza De Small on the album, I Am the King of Amapiano, in which she featured on five songs from the project.
