South African DJ duo TxC are continuing to push their sound onto the global stage as their hit collaboration “Nakupenda” enters the conversation for the upcoming Grammy Awards. The track has been submitted for consideration in two categories: Best African Music Performance and Song of the Year, marking another important moment for the duo as they expand their international reach.
“Nakupenda” brings together TxC, Davido, Shoday and Scotts Maphuma, with additional contributions from Zlatan and Al Xapo. The collaboration unites artists from different corners of the African music scene, creating a record that has attracted attention beyond South Africa and strengthened the growing global presence of African sounds.
The submission places the song before Recording Academy members for consideration as part of the Grammy process. However, being submitted for consideration does not mean the track has been nominated. The final nominations will determine which recordings make the official shortlist for the awards.
Taking to social media, TxC member Tarryn expressed gratitude to the Recording Academy and those who have supported the duo’s work. In a message addressed to Academy members, she wrote: “To the members of the Recording Academy
Thank you for your time, support and for considering our work this GRAMMY®️ season. It means so much to have our music recognised alongside such incredible talent.
With gratitude,
TXC | For Your GRAMMY®️ Consideration ✨.”
The message reflects the significance of having their work considered alongside music from artists across the world. For TxC, the campaign also offers an opportunity to bring further attention to the sound they have been developing and the impact of South African dance music on international audiences.
“Nakupenda” has gained traction across several African markets and attracted attention internationally, according to the song’s growing reception. Its cross-border appeal highlights the collaborative nature of contemporary African music, with artists increasingly working together to reach listeners in different territories.
TxC have continued to build their profile through music and collaborations, helping carry Amapiano to audiences beyond its South African roots. The involvement of established names such as Davido and Zlatan further broadens the track’s reach, bringing together different audiences under one release.
While the Grammy outcome remains to be seen, the submission represents a notable opportunity for TxC and their collaborators. As the awards process continues, fans will be watching to see whether “Nakupenda” progresses from consideration to an official nomination.
For now, the duo are celebrating the recognition and continuing to position their music on the international stage.
