Nadia Nakai and Toss continue to keep fans talking following their joint musical venture, but this time, the conversation has shifted from music to relationships. During a recent interview with Hip Hop Mag, Nadia opened up about jealousy, friendships and why she struggled with the idea of Toss going to dinner with another woman.
The rapper admitted that she can be particularly protective of the people closest to her, revealing that jealousy sometimes extends beyond romantic relationships to her friendships. According to Nadia, sharing the attention of people she considers important is something she has struggled with for a long time.
“I am in my known you friends season and its very difficult but I’ve always been like that, I get jealous when my best friend is friends with other people, yeah like I don’t get that,” she explained during the interview.
Nadia then gave an example involving Toss, revealing that his decision to have dinner with another woman bothered her, even though she knew the two were friends.
“Like the other day Toss went to dinner with some other girl and I was just like ‘why?’ and I know that they are friends but I just hate it,” she added.
Her candid admission offered a glimpse into how she approaches relationships and the emotional challenges that can arise when romantic partners maintain close friendships with other people. While Nadia acknowledged knowing that Toss and the woman were friends, she admitted that the situation still made her uncomfortable.
Toss, however, offered a different perspective, explaining that his social environment means he regularly interacts with women and that existing friendships remain part of his life when he enters a relationship.
“I mean I live a different life. I am surrounded by females at most so my woman when she comes into my life, they understand that she is priority, she’s my number 1 priority,” he said.
The Amapiano star stressed that having female friends does not mean they compete with his romantic partner for attention or importance. Instead, he believes relationships require clear boundaries, mutual respect and an understanding of the different connections in a person’s life.
“When theres a woman in my life, she’s number 1, there’s no debate or whatsoever. But she still gets to understand that there’s friends that have been there so it doesn’t mean that they are taking your place,” Toss explained.
He also emphasised the importance of keeping relationship matters private, distinguishing between what he shares with his friends and what remains between him and his partner.
According to Toss, maintaining that balance means ensuring his friends respect the woman he is dating while recognising that she takes priority in his life.
“So that’s how I just navigate it and hopefully my woman understands that,” he concluded.
