Amapiano powerhouses DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small have officially announced the release of additional tickets for Scorpion Kings Live at the iconic FNB Stadium, following an unprecedented surge in demand that has already rewritten South African music history.
After tickets first went on sale on Tuesday, 5 May, the response was nothing short of extraordinary. Ticketing platform Webtickets recorded over half a million users in the queue—an all-time high never before seen for any local or international artist performing on South African soil. Within just hours, more than 50,000 tickets were sold, matching the full capacity of last year’s Scorpion Kings Live with Friends event at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
The initial sales accounted for 60% of this year’s capacity at FNB Stadium, where over 80,000 fans are expected to attend the highly anticipated event on 19 September 2026. With demand continuing to skyrocket, thousands of fans were left without tickets, sparking widespread calls on social media for more availability.
Responding directly to fans, DJ Maphorisa addressed the situation during an Instagram Live session, later joined by Kabza De Small. The duo engaged supporters in real time, asking whether tickets originally reserved for later release should be made available immediately.
“We see the demand, we see the fans asking, and we want to know from you—do we release more today at 5pm or later?” they shared. “These tickets were always meant for the people, especially those who usually buy later in the month. But after yesterday, it’s clear—we need to open it up so more people can come through and be part of this.”
The additional tickets, initially set aside for fans purchasing around mid-month and end-of-month pay cycles, will now be released today, 6 May, at 5pm. The move aims to ensure broader access and give more supporters a chance to attend what is shaping up to be the biggest Amapiano concert ever staged.
Following the groundbreaking success of the 2025 edition, Scorpion Kings Live has evolved into more than just a concert—it is now a defining cultural moment that reflects the global rise of Amapiano. With demand still at record-breaking levels, DJ Maphorisa has also hinted at the possibility of adding a second show if tickets sell out again.
Fans are strongly encouraged to act quickly when the next batch of tickets drops, as anticipation continues to build for what promises to be a historic night in South African music.
