The amapiano scene has been thrown into heated debate after “Biri Marung” hitmaker Tebogo G Mashego made a string of explosive claims about some of the genre’s most prominent figures. His Instagram Live session, which quickly spread across social media, included controversial remarks about Young Stunna, Toss, and Scott’s Maphuma, sparking a wave of responses.
Mashego accused Scott’s Maphuma of living a borrowed lifestyle, saying, “Scott’s Maphuma is not even from South Africa, and the BMW M4 he drives isn’t his, it belongs to Gipa Entertainment.” He also claimed Toss’s luxury items, from designer clothing to jewelry, actually belong to DJ Maphorisa. “All those things Toss is wearing are Phori’s,”Mashego alleged, suggesting that Toss’s image is not as authentic as it appears.
In response, Toss and Scott’s Maphuma posted a joint Instagram update with the caption “le banta la Phori le M4 ya Gipa, 2woshort are byao.” Toss later went further on his own Stories, writing that Tebogo must “go back to the drawing board, because when things are not going well for you then you want to blame other people, the same people that helped you.” He followed it up with another caption, declaring, “You can’t keep a good man down.”
Mashego’s most controversial statement, however, was directed at Young Stunna, claiming that the chart-topping star is gay. Stunna quickly addressed the rumor on Instagram, saying, “I don’t really care if the fans or audiences are the one saying I’m gay because they don’t know what’s happening since they aren’t in the game. Now we must show what kind of girls I deal with.” His comments aimed to shut down speculation while asserting control over the narrative.
The drama didn’t stop there. Mashego also suggested that there were attempts to recruit him into the Illuminati. Stunna dismissed this outright, responding, “That isn’t even real because those things don’t exist, especially here. The American people used that thing for marketing their music.”
The controversy has since taken over social media timelines, with fans split between viewing Mashego’s claims as harsh truths or reckless shots at peers. What’s clear is that the fallout has placed Young Stunna, Toss, and Scott’s Maphuma in the spotlight, forcing them to defend both their reputations and their authenticity in the amapiano world.
