It was not long ago after DJ Maphorisa said he believes amapiano are heading to the GRAMMYs. Amapiano, a music genre created in South Africa has become the biggest current sound to come out of South Africa to the world. DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small teamed up with Congolese-born Afro-pop maverick Tresor in hopes to grow the amapiano sound across Africa with an amapiano joint offering. On the day the album was released, amapiano music lovers were excited to finally hear what the trio have came up with. To a surprise, the album was also being streamed in the US, on the top 50 chart. DJ Maphorisa was excited to see the album’s achievement, taking to social media, he wrote that amapiano will soon be recognised at the Grammys. “Amapiano to the Grammys,” the amapiano pioneer wrote.
