There are moments in music that transcend beats and lyrics that touches the soul. One such instance was unfolded at Loftus Versfeld Stadium during Scorpion Kings Live With Friends, when Daliwonga and DJ Maphorisa performed Izolo in honor of the late Mpura.

The stadium was buzzing with excitement, but then as soon as Mpura’s part of the track began to play everyone fell silent to pay tribute to him fell. For many, the song had always been joyful, a celebration of life and friendship. On that night, it became a heartfelt tribute, a way to remember a beloved artist who left too soon.

Each note of Daliwonga’s voice carried both love and grief as it rose and fell with emotion. The mood was amplified by DJ Maphorisa’s appearance on stage and their partnership transformed the performance into a moment of collective introspection. As the fans sang along, others holding up shirts and banners bearing Mpura’s image as it was also shown on the stage big screen. There was a tangible mix of sadness, thankfulness and the pure delight of honouring someone who had brought so much light through his music.

Everyone was reminded by the performance of the significance of Mpura’s music. It wasn’t about the awards that were won or charts; it was about the way he made people feel, the memories he produced and the legacy he left behind. His spirit came to life through Izolo in every cheer, every clap and every voice.

Even after the lights dimmed, the feeling lingered. Fans shared clips and memories online, extending the tribute far beyond the stadium. The love for Mpura echoed in comments and posts, that ended up being a testament to how deeply he had touched many of the South African peoples hearts.

That night at Scorpion Kings Live With Friends wasn’t just a concert but it was a gathering of people connected by music, memory and respect. Daliwonga and DJ Maphorisa didn’t just perform a song; they gave fans a chance to remember, to celebrate and to feel the presence of Mpura in the most beautiful way possible.
