Super-producer DJ Maphorisa continues to push the boundaries of South African music, and his latest tease has fans buzzing with excitement. In an unexpected but thrilling crossover, DJ Maphorisa previewed a new track with rising South African Hip-Hop artist, The Big Hash, signaling a powerful blend of Amapiano and Hip-Hop.

Maphorisa took to Instagram to share a sneak peek of the collaboration, posting a clip of The Big Hash in studio lacing smooth vocals over a piano-heavy beat. In his caption, Maphorisa wrote, “Re mo mathateng mo 😳🎹” — which translates to “We are in trouble here” — a bold hint at how fire the new track is shaping up to be.

Fans in the comments didn’t hold back, with many declaring the song an instant hit. The clip showcased a seamless fusion of Hash’s signature melodic rap style with Maphorisa’s iconic production — complete with rolling basslines, airy piano chords, and a rhythmic groove that promises to dominate both streets and streaming charts.

DJ Maphorisa, known for his genre-blending genius, has long proven that he can comfortably bridge musical worlds. From working with amapiano powerhouses like Kabza De Small, Djy Vino, and Ftears, to international collabs, the producer is now tapping into the hip-hop scene — bringing The Big Hash into the Amapiano universe without compromising his authenticity.

The Big Hash, who’s known for his introspective lyrics and smooth delivery, seemed right at home on the beat. This crossover not only marks a major moment in his career but also showcases the ever-evolving nature of South African music, where genre lines continue to blur and open up fresh sonic possibilities.

Though the official title or release date of the track hasn’t been announced, fans are already counting down the days, anticipating a release that could mark one of 2025’s biggest genre-crossing hits. With Maphorisa steering the sound and The Big Hash riding the wave, it’s safe to say “re mo mathateng” in the best way possible.
