The Johannesburg leg of the “Friends of Amstel” premium music and lifestyle event was nothing short of spectacular, particularly thanks to the incredible performances by Amapiano artists who left the crowd in awe. Held at The Ground in Muldersdrift, Johannesburg, the event drew thousands of fans eager to witness some of South Africa’s finest musical talent. Amapiano, a genre that has taken the world by storm with its infectious rhythms and catchy melodies, was the main highlight of the night.
Among the Amapiano stars who took to the stage were the likes of Kelvin Momo, Kabza De Small, Major League DJz, Dlala Thukzin, Zee Nxumalo, Toss, and Njelic, all of whom delivered high-energy performances that had the crowd dancing from start to finish. These artists brought their distinct sounds to the stage, offering a mix of deep house, jazzy undertones, and infectious grooves, creating an electrifying atmosphere that resonated with fans.
In addition to the main stage, the Amstel Radler Stage showcased even more Amapiano talent, with performances by LeeMcKrazy, Scotts Maphuma, Shakes & Les, Tman Xpress, Mellow & Sleazy, and KMAT. These artists contributed to the overall energy of the night, ensuring there was never a dull moment throughout the event. From soulful, deep beats to high-octane anthems, the night was a true celebration of the diversity and vibrancy of Amapiano music.
Dlala Thukzin, one of the standout performers, shared his thoughts with TshisaLive, reflecting on the event’s deeper significance: “My brother, we were not here to render our services but to meet our friends, family, and fans so we can showcase our craft and they can witness it firsthand. You know, as artists, we have busy schedules around the world, but I appreciate the love people have shown to each and every artist who has performed at the Friends of Amstel. I’m currently preparing for Soundland in Mthatha, Eastern Cape, next month. So, there’s a lot I’m busy with currently.”
The event wasn’t just a showcase of talent—it was a celebration of community, with fans connecting with their favorite artists in a shared moment of musical bliss.
As Amapiano continues to grow in influence, the performances at Friends of Amstel reminded everyone of the genre’s deep roots in South African culture and its global impact. The night was one to remember, leaving fans eagerly awaiting what these artists have in store for the future.
