Uncle Vinny, with his unique blend of electronic sounds and Amapiano rhythms, has captured the attention of music fans in South Africa and beyond. His music, characterized by contagious beats and memorable hooks, reflects his childhood influences and stands out as a testament to the vibrant musical tradition of his nation. With his distinctive sound and infectious energy, Uncle Vinny is quickly establishing himself as one of the most intriguing musicians to emerge from South Africa in recent years.

In a recent appearance on the Spreading Humour podcast, Uncle Vinny shared his aspirations to reshape the South African music scene on a global scale. He emphasized the need for international recognition and representation, highlighting the talent present in his home country. Uncle Vinny stated, “There’s a big gap there. We have Tyla representing us internationally, Uncle Waffles, Major League, Kabza The Small, DJ maphorisa and many more. But I am calling into all international labels and everybody to come down to South Africa because there is a major talent and there is a lot that is happening.”

Acknowledging the success of South African artists on the global stage, including Tyla’s Grammy win, Uncle Vinny stressed the importance of further elevating the country’s music industry. He expressed the need for unity within the industry to ensure that South African music receives the recognition it deserves worldwide.

“We need to get to a point where our genre is not only a sub-genre, but it’s played as a genre that is played regularly. We need to get to a point where our genre crosses over so that we can be able to rightfully own it because we have this weird politics. We won the Grammy, yes, but now we need 10 Tyla’s.”

Uncle Vinny’s recent tracks, such as “Piki Piki” (2023), showcase his talent for blending Amapiano and electronic sounds seamlessly. The song’s popularity has been steadily rising, captivating listeners with its infectious rhythm and upbeat vibe. As Uncle Vinny continues to produce captivating music, fans eagerly anticipate his impact on the international music scene.

With his determination to reshape South African music and propel it onto the global stage, Uncle Vinny’s journey promises to be an exciting one. As he continues to innovate and create, his influence is sure to extend far beyond the borders of his homeland.
