3 Amapiano Artists Who Bagged Basadi In Music Inaugural Awards. They are the first of their kind in South Africa, where women honour other women in the music industry. The Gallagher Convention in Midrand Johannesburg was filled with smiles, unity, and sisterhood as women in the music industry whether artists, producers, radio hosts, and personalities celebrated each other’s hard work at the first Basadi in Music Awards (BIMA).Broadcasters and DJs Lamiez Holworthy and Lerato Kganyago proved to be the night’s biggest winners, taking two awards each.

Hosted by the fearless fashionistas Anele “Ney the Bae” Zondo and Nomuzi “Moozlie” Mabena, the duo kept the audiences engaged and on their toes. Performers like Makhadzi delivered a short yet sweet electrifying performance after being named Artist of the Year.

Check out the amapiano winners:

Song of the year : Banyana ke Bafana (Pabi Cooper, Focalistic & Ch’cco feat LuuDadeejay & Nobantu Vilakazi)

Sampra Amapiano Artist of the year : Boohle

Social Media Influencer of the year : Khanyisa Patricia Jaceni

BIMA CEO and founder Hloni Modise-Matau says the event was the first of its kind and would not have been a success without her team and the interest shown by women in the music industry. “The first iteration of the Basadi in Music Awards was incredible to behold,” she says. “It was a phenomenal evening of women celebrating the contribution that has been made by other women. We are proud of our hosts Moozlie and Anele “Ney the Bae” Zondo who was fantastic on stage equally, Tshiamo and Mandz who were on the red carpet and backstage duty respectively sizzled.”

Hloni hopes that next year will even be bigger and better. “We are also honoured to have presented awards to all our recipients last night and of course, we are so grateful to the performers and guest presenters who brought magic to the inaugural BIMA stage. It was truly an extraordinary experience, and we are looking forward to starting planning the second installment of Basadi In Music Awards.”
