Khanyisa Opens Up About Her Retrenchment Before Tik Tok And Amapiano. Khanyisa Jaceni from Mpumalanga is enjoying her new job. But she still has to explain to her family what she now does for a living. Previously, before she was retrenched, she worked as a computer-aided design operator. Now all she needs is her phone and data to create unique digital content that makes her one of the most followed people in SA. Her music is good but it’s her videos that made her gain the popularity that she currently has.And it all began in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic when she lost her job as a computer-aided design operator. The influencer says growing up in a black home at first it was not easy to convince parents or show them that this was the path for her because she was also uncertain how a career as a content creator would take shape.
Growing she was a loner and would make up different characters in her head just to keep her company. Little did she know that would contribute to how she creates her social media content today.Among the TikTok digital creators who create humorous content, Khanyisa is considered one of the funniest in South Africa.The singer says she always knew that somehow, she would be in the entertainment industry because from an early age she knew that she could sing and would perform for her family.Her music is good but it’s her videos that made her gain the popularity that she currently has.And it all began in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic when she lost her job as a computer-aided design operator.
At first, her family was worried that she was going through something when she would make noise and shoot her videos.“It was the forehead video that made me gain traction and helped realise that people love my personality.”Before, when I was on social media, I did what everyone else was doing. But [after that video], I then discovered that people love my personality and my overview on things.”Then I started shooting them with my personality and here I am today.”
She worked with the amapiano pioneers Kabza Da Small and De Muziqal Chef to produce the song.This is not the first time she has worked with Kabza.“I worked on a song with Kabza in 2019 titled Jikeleza but it didn’t go so well because I didn’t have a following.”And that is when I understood that in this industry you need to have your own people and I understand that no one owes you everything. Kabza is brilliant, and working with him is such an amazing opportunity,” she says.
