South African global sensation Tyla continues to soar to new heights, adding yet another major accolade to her growing list of achievements. The 24-year-old star clinched the prestigious Outstanding International Song award at the NAACP Image Awards for her smash hit Is It, solidifying her position as one of Africa’s brightest musical exports.

Tyla faced stiff competition in the category, going head-to-head with some of the biggest names in global music, including Burna Boy, Davido, Tiwa Savage, and Skip Marley. Despite the heavyweight lineup, it was Tyla who emerged victorious, a testament to the worldwide impact of her music.

The NAACP celebrated her win on Instagram, highlighting the unifying power of music: “Celebrating the music that brings us closer together. Congratulations to @tyla on her single ‘Is It’ winning the 57th #NAACPImageAwards for Outstanding International Song.” The awards ceremony, held on Tuesday, 24 February 2026, honored outstanding achievements by people of colour in film, television, music, and literature — recognizing artists who are shaping culture on a global scale.

Released on 11 July 2025 via FAX and Epic Records, Is It has proven to be one of Tyla’s most successful releases to date. The track has amassed over 76 million streams on Spotify, making it one of the most streamed African songs in recent memory. Its infectious rhythm, polished production, and Tyla’s signature vocal flair have resonated with audiences far beyond the continent.

Fans flooded social media with congratulatory messages following the announcement, celebrating her continued rise and international dominance. For many, this win feels like a defining moment — not just for Tyla, but for African music as a whole.

Earlier in February, Tyla also made global headlines after securing a win at the Grammy Awards, further cementing her place among music’s elite.

With back-to-back international victories, Tyla is not just collecting awards — she’s building a legacy. And at just 24 years old, it’s clear that this is only the beginning of an extraordinary global journey.
