Focalistic On The Responsibilities That Come With Being The Voice Of The Youth. While his international success has exceeded his expectations, Focalistic remains grounded and spiritual. He credits his mother’s strength and resilience, which he witnessed daily, for motivating him to rise above challenges. With aspirations to create a hood hall of fame, Focalistic acknowledges the need to learn from South African legends like Brenda Fassie, who worked tirelessly to achieve greatness.

Acknowledging the responsibilities that come with being a musician, Focalistic reflects on the influential figures of the past, such as Chicco Twala and Bra Hugh, who used music to protest against apartheid. He believes it is now their responsibility to reflect the present times. In the current era, Focalistic recognizes the abundance of opportunities for positivity but also acknowledges the stress that accompanies them. He emphasizes the need to starve distractions and highlights the significance of releasing ‘Khekheleza’ on Youth Day early this year—a monumental moment where he stands for what he believes in.

Speaking on being the voice of the youth and how he views fame and money – now that he is a global star, Foca told GQ: “I don’t think it’s changed how I view anything. I always knew who I’d become. I keep picturing an old tweet I posted in 2016 or 2017 when I wrote about becoming one of the best. My new thing is looking at the future.Fame hasn’t changed me or fazed me, which happens to a lot of artists. You go through all this so many times in your head that you sort of refine it as you go.You’re caught up in the work because that’s what it is, work, so fame isn’t the focus. If you don’t use your fame and money to push yourself further and change lives, there may be misalignment somewhere.”

Finding his voice through music, Focalistic shares his personal journey of grief and loss. After his father’s passing, he went mute, unable to express himself until he discovered music. Drawing inspiration from his experiences and the desire to bring about positive change, Focalistic uses his songs to address various aspects of life and uplift others, aiming to make a meaningful impact.
