Uncle Waffles Gives Satisfying Definition Of Amapiano, Shares Future Plans. The Amapiano music genre is often described as a subgenre of house music and a hybrid of deep house that also draws inspiration from traditional African styles such as Kwaito, Gqom, and Afrobeat.
In a recent interview with Spotify’s Our Frequency, Uncle Waffles gave her own description of what she believes the Amapiano sound is and we have to say it is one of the most satisfying descriptions any artist of the genre has ever given. “I would describe Amapiano as the daughter of Kwaito. A mixture of African drums and Kwaito. I think that’s the perfect way to put it. It’s the melody but still with this African feel to it, you know,” the international sensation said.
Her understanding of the Amapiano genre makes sense as to why Uncle Waffles is the biggest Amapiano export from Southern Africa.
On what to expect from her in the future and her hopes for the Amapiano genre as it continues to dominate, Uncle Waffles said, “Definitely a lot of new things, a lot of things I have not done before. And then for Amapiano, you’re definitely gonna see Amapiano being included in every market. It’s going to be a world of it. More stages for Amapiano, more awards for Amapiano, that’s definitely what’s looking like is about to happen.”
