New Update On DJ Maphorisa’s Assault Case. Back in May, DJ Maphorisa spent a weekend in custody after his girlfriend, actress Thuli Phongolo opened a case of assault against him at the Sandton Police station.
“I confronted him so that we can talk about our argument, which happened the previous night during his gig. He held me, took me to the balcony and grabbed me aggressively by my neck,” a statement by Thuli on the assault read. When DJ Maphorisa first appeared in court, Thuli reportedly was present and told she court she wished to withdraw the case against him.
Instead of throwing away the case, it was postponed for DJ Maphorisa to make representations to have the case withdrawn. DJ Maphorisa made a brief court appearance on Wednesday the 5th of July at the Randburg Magistrate court where the case was postponed July 12th.
DJ Maphorisa is currently out on a R4000 bail. The case has not slowed him down having just returned from headlining the Piano stage at the Afronation Festival in Portugal alongside other Amapiano stars.
