Nomfundo Moh Opens Up About Her Major Collaboration With Amapiano Artists. Nomfundo Ngcobo (born 18 July 2000) popularly known by her stage name as Nomfundo Moh is a South African singer and songwriter who hails from KwaZulu-Natal. omfundo Moh delivers passionate vocals and consuming harmonies in isiZulu, over a sparse Afropop instrumental with strong elements of trap soul. Umthwalo, meaning burden, deals with melancholy as a subject, Nomfundo’s lively delivery and engaging, energetic personality shine through, inspiring hope and motivation.
On working with Amapiano vocalists Sha Sha and Ami Faku, Nomfundo – whose real name is Nomfundo Ngcobo – says the collaboration was a surprise and worked out very well. “Working with them was amazing and the collaboration was a result of my team members who decided to surprise me. In them I felt like I found soul sisters and I’ve actually always wanted to work with them,” she says excitedly.
When describing the sound she does, Nomfundo said she doesn’t want to limit herself. “The first word that comes to mind when I answer that question is ‘African’. I believe that I make Afrocentric music, which isn’t only for South Africans but music that is general and in which anyone can find their favourite song. I don’t only limit my sound to the Afro-pop genre because I want everyone to relate since I write songs about life.”
She looks up to artists like, “Ami Faku and Sha Sha are definitely my musical influences as well as the likes of Amanda Black and Alicia Keys. Tiwa Savage is also on the list.”
