Major League DJz Continue To Remember The Late Mpura. Major League DJz, Banele and Bandile Mbere say now is the time they have been waiting for in the 10 years they have been in the industry. They are already in full motion and pushing their dreams. Although they were introduced to the industry as hip-hop djs, the pair has been able to transition into any sound that’s influenced culture.

While in the Amapiano space, the duo managed to have a friendship with the late Mpura, and following his passing , it has been tough for all his friends, Major League DJz included. They took to social media to remember the star and how the industry lost such a young talent. “Breaks my heart to just think Mpura such a young talent and beautiful person within is gone like that,” they wrote with their joint social media account.

Before going overseas, they were in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria. They headed over to Colombia, where parties are full to capacity and crowds are going crazy over piano. “We want to take over the world and go to the Grammys. It’s not like we have to but I am going to make it happen,” Bandile said.

“Our background is new age kwaito which was commercialised kwaito. The singles we used to release while we were hip hop deejays, we would try different sounds in the kwaito space. Singles like Slyza Tsotsi, Zulu Girls and Let’s Get It. When people ask us about amapiano, that’s why we say we knew about piano a long time ago because it comes from kwaito. The base of it is all kwaito so the transition wasn’t that hard. We used to push the sound, that’s why they call us the pioneers of new age kwaito,” Bandile added.
