10 Things You Should Know About Uncle Waffles. The internet has played a massive role in the rise of several South African musicians. A new DJ who hit South Africa’s entertainment radar over the weekend is Uncle Waffles. The young sensation is part of a number of new amapiano artists who’ve been making it big in recent months. Female DJs, in particular, have been gaining attention, and Uncle Waffles is definitely part of the pack. Most people have been wanting to know more about her and her next move since she rose to fame about a week ago.

Here are 10 things you should know about Uncle Waffles:

1 Uncle Waffles’ real name is Lungelihle Zwane.

2 She is from Swaziland and is now based in South Africa.

3 She is currently 21 years old.

4 In a YouTube video, she shared that she matriculated in 2017 and went straight into working. “I worked as a receptionist and as a personal assistant for two years.”

5 According to Glamour publication, Uncle Waffles had a tough upbringing. She was raised by her grandmother and didn’t know her parents. After eventually reconciling with her mother, their relationship was strained for the majority of her teenage years.

6 The popular DJ scored herself a massive modelling gig and ended up on the cover of Swazi Bride Magazine in 2018. She shared that after receiving the call, she didn’t think she was going to be featured on the magazine cover. “The hardest thing was holding this in and not sharing this. I’m so emotional right now. God did this for me.”

7 Uncle Waffles was a presenter on a Swazi television show titled Studio1. She presented the music and entertainment show alongside Siybonga Nsibande and DJ Stunner.

Uncle Waffles shared her DJing journey with the world on her Instagram page. Before she became an internet sensation she worked tirelessly to master her craft. She has been a DJ for over a year now!

8 The short video she shared on Twitter has been viewed over 3.2 million times. 

9 After her video went viral, she took to Twitter to share that Drake gave her a follow on Instagram. She could not believe the news and shared that she cried over the phone with her managers. She wrote: “I just called my managers and we cried. Guys, he is the biggest artist in the world, in the entire world.”

10 Uncle Waffles is an advocate for mental health. She shared that she previously struggled with anxiety and mental health disorder. She has a blog called Perspective on which she often posts motivational messages.
