That included launching an #africanheatchallenge dance challenge on social media, billboards in New York and Toronto, and embedded video clips from different artists including Focalistic.

While doing an interview witth Spotify, Focalistic listed his favourite African music producers. “There’s Fresh in Nigera, Vigro Deep obviousy in South Africa. There’s DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small. I think they are one of my biggest influers, especially DJ Maphorisa. Because we come from the same hood, so shout out to Ingram from Pitori. Focalistic worked with Vigro Deep whom he named as one of his favourite dance music producers on a song that completely launched and changed Foca’s music career. ‘Ke Star’ track won song of the year award and eaned a gold status. The song also gained a collaboration with Nigerian afrobeats star Davido for a remix. Foca is credited to being able to package something unique and authentic to his identity.

Pitori Maradona’s Focalistic also earned a place at the table after international sensation Diddy was seen jamming to his hit single Ke Star featurng Vigro Deep. Diddy posted a video on his Instagram Stories of himself and his crew feeling the beat and dancing to the 2019 song. He also earned a spot on the Times Square billboard in New York. “It’s also crazy that saying Ase trap ke pina tsa ko Kasi ... one can end up in Times Square, I think for me that’s crazy!” the rapper said.

He also worked with DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small on a number of tracks that kept Mzansi on their feet during Weekends. The star also mentioned that DJ Maphorisa grew up in the same kasi as he did, and watching him become one of the amapiano kings is pretty influential to him.
