South African pop sensation Tyla is continuing her Grammy campaign with the submission of “I Don’t Care,” her collaboration with Amapiano vocalist Babalwa M, for consideration at the upcoming Grammy Awards. The track, featured on Tyla’s APOP* project, has been entered into the Best African Music Performance category, adding another exciting development to the singer’s international music journey.

The submission forms part of Tyla’s broader For Your Consideration campaign, through which music is presented to Recording Academy members for potential recognition across eligible categories. According to information shared by @TheGrammyGuru, the Grammy-winning artist has submitted several songs and projects for consideration.

Although a submission does not guarantee a nomination, the move places “I Don’t Care” among the recordings being considered for recognition during the awards process. Fans will now be watching closely to see whether the collaboration progresses to the official nominations.

“I Don’t Care” brings together two artists whose musical identities represent different yet complementary sides of the South African music landscape. Tyla has built an international profile with her polished pop sound, blending contemporary production with African influences, while Babalwa M has established herself as a distinctive voice within the local house and Amapiano scenes.

Their collaboration offers a meeting point between Tyla’s globally oriented sound and Babalwa M’s soulful, commanding vocals. The combination gives the track a cross-genre character, reflecting the increasing connections between South African dance music and international pop.

Babalwa M’s involvement is particularly notable as it brings an established Amapiano and house vocalist into Tyla’s wider musical universe. The collaboration also highlights the value of artists working across genres, creating opportunities for different audiences to discover sounds and voices beyond their usual listening habits.

The Best African Music Performance category was introduced by the Recording Academy to recognise recordings that showcase African musical expression and its contemporary evolution. It provides a platform for music shaped by the continent’s diverse traditions, rhythms and modern production approaches.

For Tyla, the submission adds another dimension to her ongoing international campaign. Since gaining global recognition, the singer has continued to bring South African influences to audiences worldwide, helping expand the visibility of music emerging from the country.

For Babalwa M, the consideration offers another opportunity for her contribution to a major collaboration to reach a wider audience.

As the Grammy process unfolds, the focus will be on whether “I Don’t Care” secures an official nomination. For now, the submission marks a significant step in Tyla’s campaign and shines a spotlight on the collaboration’s blend of South African talent and international pop appeal.
