South African Amapiano hitmaker EeQue is entering a powerful new chapter in his musical journey with the release of his latest single “Skwiza,” featuring Ch’cco and Al Xapo. The energetic track captures the spirit of ambition, perseverance, and determination, encouraging listeners to create opportunities rather than wait for them. With its infectious hook and vibrant Amapiano groove, the song is quickly positioning itself as a motivational anthem for the hustle.

In a recent interview with The Yanos Magazine, EeQue opened up about the inspiration behind the track and the journey that led him to this moment in his career.

1. Your new single Skwiza carries a strong message about ambition and hustle. What inspired the concept behind the track?

Skwiza is really about hunger, that mindset of not waiting for opportunities but going out to get them. I have seen how doors don’t open on their own, you have to push, that’s where the concept came from.

2. Skwiza features collaborations with Ch’cco and Al Xapo. How did these collaborations come together, and what did each artist bring to the song?

The collab came naturally, we all have the same energy. Ch’cco brought the smooth, catchy vibe and Al Xapo added a different texture to the song. Everyone came in and did their thing.

3. The hook in Skwiza is very catchy and memorable. What was the creative process like when crafting the chorus?

The hook came from a real moment in studio, we just vibing and I wanted something simple but powerful. Something people can sing without thinking too much.

4. The song embraces the spirit of “opening doors” and creating opportunities. How does this message reflect your personal journey in the music industry?

Nothing was handed to me, I had to build everything step by step. So when I say it in the song, it’s not just lyrics but my story story.

5. The track is built on a vibrant Amapiano groove. How important is it for you to keep pushing the sound of Amapiano while still bringing your own unique style to it?

The track is built on a vibrant Amapiano groove.

How important is it for you to keep pushing the sound of Amapiano while still bringing your own unique style to it?

Amapiano is home but at the same time, I don’t want to sound like everyone else. It’s important to push the sound forward while still being true to who I am, that’s how the culture grows.

6. The music video has a cinematic aesthetic inspired by Asian street culture and is set in a Korean barbecue restaurant. What inspired this visual direction?

I wanted something different visually, the Asian street culture vibe and the Korean barbecue setting brought a fresh feel, it’s unexpected but still stylish and clean.

7. Visual storytelling seems to play an important role in this release. How do you think the music video enhances the story behind Skwiza?

The video brings the song to life, it shows the lifestyle the movement, the confidence behind the music. Sometimes visuals say what words can’t.

8. You’re known for your distinctive vocal tone and effortless flow. How would you describe the evolution of your sound since you first entered the Amapiano scene?

My sound has grown a lot, in the beginning I was just finding my space now I’m more confident, more intentional I understand my voice and how to use it.

9. While many fans associate you strongly with Amapiano, you’ve also explored other sounds. Are there any other genres or styles you’re interested in experimenting with in the future?

I’m definitely open to exploring more sounds, Afro-fusion, R&B and even more global. Music has no limits and I don’t want to box myself in.

10. With Skwiza marking another exciting moment in your catalogue, what can fans expect next from you in terms of new music or upcoming projects?

Fans can expect more music, more visuals and bigger moves. Skwiza ke taste and I’m only getting started. Ke Wave akere.

With its bold message and energetic sound, “Skwiza” marks another exciting moment in EeQue’s growing catalogue.
