Amapiano star Young Stunna has once again proven why he’s one of South Africa’s most emotionally resonant artists. The 27-year-old hitmaker recently sat down with Independent Media Lifestyle to share how his powerful remix collaboration on Nigerian singer Swayvee’s viral track “US” came to be — and how it evolved into a heartfelt anthem for lovers caught between the hustle and the heart.
Originally released in March, “US” quickly gained momentum as a TikTok favorite, with over a million content creations using the song’s soulful melody and romantic lyrics. The ballad’s emotional core resonated across borders, making it the perfect canvas for a South African twist. In June, the official remix featuring Young Stunna dropped, infusing the track with rich Amapiano textures and a raw, heartfelt verse from the star himself.
“Swayvee brought something fresh and I knew I could add a different flavour while still respecting the essence of the track,” speaking to IOL News, Stunna shared.
In his verse, Young Stunna explores the emotional toll of being constantly on the grind, away from the one he loves. He said the inspiration came from a real place — wanting to express the tension between chasing success and nurturing relationships.
“The song is about love, but I wanted to express the balance between the hustle and the heart. Even though I’m on the grind, the love is still there.”
Young Stunna praised Swayvee for creating such a moving original version and emphasized the mutual respect that made their collaboration seamless.
“I didn’t come in trying to change the vibe of the original. I just brought my roots, my Amapiano flow, and let it blend naturally with what Swayvee had already created.”
Fans can look forward to the official music video for the remix, which Stunna promises will go beyond visuals and deliver a “soulful experience” that reflects love, distance, connection, and culture.
“It’s not just a music video, it’s an experience. We’re giving people something they can feel, not just watch.”
As “US” continues to break records and win hearts, Young Stunna says he’s grateful for the overwhelming love.
“It’s humbling that people connect with it so deeply. I’m just honoured to be a part of that,” he said.
