Award-winning South African music producer and Amapiano pioneer DJ Maphorisa is once again the talk of social media — but this time, not for a chart-topping hit. The star trended after a video surfaced online showing him in the middle of a tense confrontation with fellow producer Shaun 101 at a nightclub.
The incident reportedly occurred on the night of Wednesday, 9 July 2025, during what was supposed to be a casual night out. Maphorisa was joined by close collaborators and fellow Amapiano giants Kabza De Small, Kelvin Momo, and Shaun 101 at an undisclosed club. However, the vibe quickly shifted when a disagreement between Phori and Shaun escalated.
In the now-viral video shared by X user @Maluda012, DJ Maphorisa can be seen getting visibly agitated during a verbal altercation. The clip shows him momentarily pausing from rolling a spliff to point aggressively at Shaun 101, his expression filled with frustration and intensity. The brief but fiery moment caught fans off guard, as it’s rare to witness such public outbursts from the usually composed producer.
While DJ Maphorisa is known for being outspoken during his Instagram Live sessions — often venting about the industry and collaborators — seeing him in a face-to-face confrontation is unusual. Despite the heated exchange, no physical fight broke out, and it appears the situation was quickly de-escalated, likely with the help of those around them.
Social media reacted with a mix of shock and amusement. Many fans joked about the incident, saying Maphorisa had likely already addressed it in his typical outspoken fashion. Some even laughed at how seriously he interrupted his own chill moment just to argue.
As of now, neither Maphorisa nor Shaun 101 has officially commented on the video or what led to the altercation. Still, fans remain hopeful that the tension was just a momentary disagreement between longtime collaborators — and not the beginning of a serious rift in Amapiano’s most celebrated circle.
