Amapiano star Sabelo Zuma is preparing to take legal action against MacG, host of the popular ‘Podcast and Chill’, after allegations surfaced on the show suggesting the vocalist uses illicit substances. The former Amaroto member is now considering suing the controversial podcaster for reputational damage and loss of income.
The drama began when MacG reportedly claimed on an episode of the podcast that he had knowledge of Zuma allegedly being involved in frequent drug use. The comments sparked widespread discussion on social media, with many calling out MacG for once again making unfounded and damaging claims about public figures.
According to a report by Buzzlife News, a close friend of Zuma revealed that the artist is not taking the allegations lightly. The source claims that Zuma has already consulted with his legal team, who are exploring grounds for a defamation lawsuit. The friend added that the drug addict label has already cost Zuma business opportunities and bookings in the music industry.
Sabelo Zuma has yet to release an official public statement but made it clear through his social media that he is not willing to let the matter slide. “It’s not just about me,” he reportedly told friends. “This sets a dangerous precedent. People believe whatever they hear without proof.”
Online reactions have been divided. While some fans have expressed support for Zuma and condemned MacG’s loose commentary, others questioned whether the artist would be willing to take a drug test should the case proceed in court.
One fan on X wrote, “MacG is always dragging someone with no evidence. It’s about time he gets held accountable.” Another user, however, commented, “If Zuma wants to clear his name, he should take the test and sue if it’s false.”
This isn’t the first time MacG has come under fire for controversial remarks. He previously faced backlash after making speculative comments about actress Minnie Dlamini, among others. His tendency to court controversy has made the podcast one of the most talked-about platforms in South Africa — for better or worse.
As the legal route looms, the music industry watches closely to see whether this latest clash will finally bring consequences for one of Mzansi’s most polarising media figures.
