The Amapiano wave continues to grow — and now, it’s getting its very own awards platform. Cultural curator and music enthusiast Thulani Way has officially launched the Amapiano Africa Awards to Sun City Resort, a first-of-its-kind ceremony dedicated to celebrating the genre’s biggest stars and most impactful contributors across the continent.

Thulani made the groundbreaking announcement via Instagram, confirming that the inaugural event will take place on 15 November 2025. His post read:

“It’s official. The Inaugural Amapiano Africa Awards are coming — 15 November 2025. The streets have spoken. We outside!

#AmapianoAfricaAwards #AAA2025 #AmapianoToTheWorld #WeOutside #PianoCulture.”

This new initiative marks a major milestone in the recognition of Amapiano — a genre that has evolved from the township streets of South Africa into a global movement. With its fusion of deep house, jazz, kwaito, and infectious log drums, Amapiano has not only dominated charts but also become a powerful force in fashion, dance, and social culture.

The Amapiano Africa Awards (AAA) aim to honour the genre’s creative excellence and the artists, producers, DJs, dancers, and influencers who are driving its success. From chart-topping singles and viral dance trends to game-changing collaborations and cultural impact, the awards promise to showcase the full spectrum of Amapiano’s influence.

According to Thulani, the event will not only highlight the achievements of South African talent but also acknowledge Amapiano’s expansion across borders — with artists from Nigeria, Ghana, the UK, and beyond contributing to the genre’s ever-growing footprint.

Music lovers and industry insiders alike have welcomed the announcement with open arms, calling it a long-overdue recognition of a genre that has redefined modern African music.

The awards ceremony, expected to feature high-energy performances, red carpet fashion, and surprise appearances, will also serve as a platform for networking and collaboration among Amapiano’s key players.

As anticipation builds toward November, the Amapiano community is already buzzing with excitement. With the launch of the Amapiano Africa Awards, Thulani Way is not just making history — he’s cementing the genre’s legacy for generations to come.
