Scotts Maphuma is facing the full force of public scrutiny after a wave of backlash from fans over his alleged disrespectful behavior. The Amapiano rising star’s career took a serious hit this week when Vogue Lounge in Rustenburg officially cancelled his upcoming performance, citing community values and fan sentiments as the reason.

The controversy began when Scotts Maphuma was accused of displaying a dismissive attitude towards his supporters. The situation spiraled after a video circulated online, showing a visibly unenthusiastic crowd during one of his recent gigs—refusing to dance, clap, or respond to his performance. This cold reception followed reports that the “Piki Piki” hitmaker had refused to take photos with fans and claimed that people “didn’t put him where he is today.”

Despite issuing a public apology during an Instagram Live session with DJ Maphorisa, many fans were left unconvinced. The apology, seen by some as half-hearted, only fueled more criticism. The situation escalated when a fake Twitter account issued a separate apology, which Scotts later disowned, warning fans that he does not have a Twitter account and urging them to ignore it.

Now, the fallout is becoming tangible. Vogue Lounge, a respected nightlife venue in Rustenburg, released an official statement confirming that they had pulled Scotts from their lineup due to the ongoing controversy.

“As a brand that stands for community, respect and inclusivity, we do not take your voices lightly. After careful consideration and with full respect for the sentiments expressed by our loyal guests, we have made the decision to withdraw Scotts Maphuma from our entertainment lineup,” the statement read.

Social media has responded with mixed reactions. Some applaud the nightclub for holding the artist accountable, while others feel the backlash is going too far and call for giving the artist room to grow and redeem himself.

This moment marks a turning point in Scotts Maphuma’s career. With public trust shaken, it remains to be seen whether he can bounce back and reconnect with his audience—or if this will be the beginning of a broader industry pushback.
