Amapiano royalty Scorpion Kings, the dynamic duo made up of DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small, have just sent waves of excitement through Mzansi and beyond with a cryptic teaser for a brand new project titled “Kings Will Rise” — set to drop on 29 August.

It’s been a minute since fans got a joint release from the power duo. Their last collaborative project, “The Konka Mixtape”, dropped in 2023 and instantly became a fan-favorite. Since then, both artists have been focusing on solo ventures and other collaborations — but the magic of Scorpion Kings as a unit has been dearly missed.

Now, it looks like the kings are rising again.

Both Maphorisa and Kabza took to their respective social media platforms and posted the same intriguing message:

“#KingsWillRise 🤟”

No caption, no details — just the hashtag and emoji that left fans guessing, but hopeful.

To fuel the hype even further, the duo shared a short skit that has everyone talking. In the video, two boys are seen playing football in a township (kasi), when they suddenly stumble upon a mysterious piano. The moment they touch it, the scene cuts to a nostalgic flashback showing the early beginnings of Maphorisa and Kabza — when they first connected and began their journey as the Scorpion Kings. It’s a clever and emotional piece of storytelling that reminds fans of their unmatched chemistry and the cultural impact they’ve had since joining forces.

While no tracklist or features have been revealed yet, fans are already buzzing with anticipation. The title alone, “Kings Will Rise”, suggests a powerful return and possibly a sonic evolution for the duo. Given their history of hits and genre-shaping influence, expectations are sky-high.

The Scorpion Kings are not just hitmakers — they’re tastemakers who’ve shaped the sound and movement of Amapiano around the world. With a new project on the horizon, it’s safe to say the throne is about to be reclaimed.

Mark your calendars — August 29th might just be the day Amapiano’s most iconic duo rise again.
