Amapiano star Duduzile Ngwenya, affectionately known as Lady Du, paid an emotional tribute to her father, DJ Choc Ngwenya, during his memorial service held on Wednesday, 16 April at the Vosloorus Civic Centre. The industry veteran, born Mbuyiselo Ngwenya, passed away on Friday, 11 April, leaving a deep void in the South African music landscape.

The Ngwenya family confirmed DJ Choc’s passing, prompting an outpouring of grief and remembrance from fans and fellow musicians across social media platforms. DJ Choc, a respected pioneer in the local music scene, was also a beloved father and mentor to many.

Lady Du, who has always credited her father for shaping her musical journey, took to Instagram to express her sorrow. She posted:
“😭😭😭😭 daddy 💔 You can stream the memorial service on YouTube 🙏🙏🙏 @nontokozo_mkhizeh unkulunkulu akbusise kudlulele sisi ❤️❤️❤️❤️.”
