In a heartfelt announcement on March 6, 2025, the South African music scene was met with the news of Murumba Pitch’s disbandment. The duo, comprising Thabang Innocent Mangolo and Emmanuel Nanga Mathye, revealed their mutual decision to terminate their partnership and contractual relationship, effective immediately.

The press release conveyed the gravity of their decision, stating, “It is with great sadness to announce that after a meeting held on 6 March 2025, the above-mentioned parties reached a mutual decision to terminate their partnership and contractual relationship with immediate effect.” Both artists expressed a commitment to pursuing independent careers, focusing on new opportunities and future endeavors.

Murumba Pitch has been a significant force in the South African music industry, known for their unique blend of soulful melodies and Amapiano rhythms. Their 2024 EP, ‘Impi,’ showcased their versatility and deep connection to African musical traditions.  Their anticipated album, ‘Isidalo,’ released in February 2024, featured collaborations with prominent artists like Kelvin Momo, Boohle, and Nkosazana Daughter, further cementing their influence in the genre.

The duo’s split echoes the history of other successful South African music groups that have parted ways. Malaika, formed in 2003, faced challenges following the death of member Jabulani Ndaba in 2008, leading to internal conflicts and eventual disbandment.  Similarly, the house duo Liquideep, known for their soulful house tracks, disbanded in 2014 after a successful run that began in 2007.

In their statement, Mangolo and Mathye assured fans and stakeholders of their intention to work together to ensure a fair and amicable division of business interests associated with the Murumba Pitch brand. They concluded by expressing gratitude for the public’s understanding and cooperation during this transition.

As both artists embark on their individual journeys, the legacy of Murumba Pitch remains a testament to their contributions to South Africa’s vibrant music landscape.
