JazziQ Reveals His SA Role Model. South Africa-based Dj and producer Mr JazziQ highlights the genesis of a flourishing music style: Amapiano. Born in the townships of Johannesburg, Amapiano is a cross between kwaito basslines and progressive deep house patterns.

Mr JazziQ was answering some burning questions recently on his Instagram feed, while one fan asked who his role is. JazziQ revealed his role model to be Riky Rick. See image beow:

Although he did not reveal why Riky Rick is his role model, the two seems to have a lot in common like the ability to spot talent and introduce it to the public. Riky Rick has numerous artists he has scouted including names like A-Reece and Uncle Vinny; while Mr JazziQ revealed that he introduced the likes of amapiano giants like Lady Du, Mpura, Busta 929, Zuma, Reece Madlisa and a few others.

Speaking on being one of the leading figures of the Amapiano movement, Mr JazziQ described amapiano as “a progressing genre that can only grow from here onwards. It’s starting to make waves on a global scale and it is bound to get more placements and recognition.”

The star recently released his solo album titled ‘Party With The English’. In case you missed it, the JazziDiciples split last year in order to focus on their individual music careers. “We decided to move from JazziDisciples mainly because we did not want to be glued together as we both believe that we have the potential to grow as individuals, being a duo has taught us both new and entertaining ways to do music, I am grateful for that. “Our journey has been bumpy and tricky because we had to fight for recognition while playing a genre that was still new to the ears of many but it is undoubtedly one of the best genres in the country, mainly because it’s brewed here,” Mr JazziQ said.
