South African singer Tyla continues her winning streak, adding another accolade to her list of achievements this year. The 22-year-old Grammy Award winner took home the Song of the Year Award at the prestigious DStv Content Creator Awards for her hit single “Water.” The ceremony, which took place on Saturday, October 12, 2024, was held at the iconic Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton, Johannesburg. Although Tyla was not present to accept the award in person, her impact was unmistakably felt throughout the event.

The announcement of Tyla’s win sparked excitement and buzz on social media, with fans celebrating the singer’s remarkable accomplishments. “Water” has truly been a cultural phenomenon, dominating charts and playlists while capturing the hearts of listeners worldwide. The song’s infectious beat and captivating dance routines became a viral sensation on TikTok, with countless users participating in dance challenges inspired by the track. As a result, “Water” not only topped music charts but also became the anthem of the year, making it a worthy recipient of the Song of the Year Award.

The organizers of the DStv Content Creator Awards acknowledged the song’s far-reaching impact in their congratulatory post on Instagram. They wrote, “The Song of the Year Award powered by @947joburg goes to @tyla for Water! This track didn’t just top the charts; it became the anthem of the year. From viral TikTok challenges to dominating our playlists, it brought all the vibes and took over the culture! #DStvCCA #ContentCreatorAwardsSA.”

Tyla’s recognition at the DStv Content Creator Awards adds to an already impressive year for the young artist. Her announcement of plans to return to Mzansi for the festive season only added to the excitement surrounding her recent win, as fans eagerly anticipate the possibility of seeing her perform live.
