Khuli Chana Speaks On What Inspired His Upcoming Album ‘KhuliYano’. South African rapper Khuli Chana has officially released his first single of 2021 Buyile, tapping into the amaiano scene. The single was produced by amapiano artist Tyler ICU and features Lady Du and Stino Le Thwenny. Khuli Chana, aka Khuli Yano, returns after a two-year temporary gap with an amapiano joint and he still has more up his sleeve.

Khuli Chana has officially joined the amapiano train as he announced that he is working on an amapiano album titled “Khuli Yano”. The talented muso also revealed the reason behind his amapiano inspired album. “I love Hip Hop, I love SA Hip Hop, but I am tired of the politics,” he said. Khuli Chana said traveling with his wife, known as Lamiez Hollworthy got him back on the wave. “I love travelling with wifey, and hanging around her being in the yanos section and watching how everybody is just there for vibes, just vibes, no politics or questions, just vibes… And I was like I’ll get back to the vibes,” he added.

The star dropped Buyile, which is an amapiano joint and has so far been been received well by fans. “My next project is called ‘Khuli Yano’ and its just vibes. It will be yanos inspired. If you listen to ‘Buyile’ you gonna catch that nostalgia, Kwaito, Hip Hop, uhm yano! I’ll always give you balance, I’ll always have some integrity when it comes to this music thing.”

Loosely translated, the song’s title Buyile means “returned”. A decade into his solo career, the track speaks to the rapper’s growing flexibility with genres. Khuli Chana’s ability to fuse the popular amapiano genre into his relaxed motswako rap style has all the makings of a hit. Earlier this year, Stino Le Thwenny featured Khuli Chana alongside K.O on Mshimane 2.0, the remix of their hit Mshimane. Currently, Tyler ICU seems to be the bridge between hip hop and amapiano after producing Dr Peppa’s What It Is and Riky Rick’s Ungazincishi.
