Focalistic has managed to successfully merge a distinct South African sound which emerged from Pretoria with hip-hop and amapiano. The “Ke Star” hitmaker has officially introduced amapiano sound to other African countries with his recent collaboration with Nigerian star Davido. ‘Ke Star’ remix is another instance of South Africa’s amapiano movement spreading across Africa.
The duo’s collaboration creates a musical experience that would unite Africans. Taking to his Insta story, Davido took a screenshot of Focalistic’s Instagram page and plead with his fans to follow his fellow brother’s instagram account and take it to 1 million followers. He captioned: “Get my brother to 1M to followers today!!!”
It seems Davido’s Instastory had a huge influence as the star is just a few followers away from hitting the 1 million goal.
Focalistic said they first met in a club about two years ago, and they linked up again this year and that was when brotherhood was formed. Focalistic shared a video on Twitter of him hanging out with Davido and teaching him Pitori slang. The video shows Davido easily pick up the lingo and later it was announced that the duo announced the “Ke Star” remix. According to Naija Vibes, Davido and Focalistic had recording sessions in Nigeria ahead of the release. The remix has topped charts and became famous in Nigeria as it introduced the amapiano sound in Nigeiria.
Davido and Focalistic also recently made the announcement on Instagram during their Face Time chat and the urged fans to get ready for fireworks as the EP they are both working on will have four hit songs on it. Nigerian afro beat star Davido happily announced that the Extended Play will drop during Summer and Focalistic confirmed it during their Instagram live session.
