Lady Amar Reminisces On When She’d DMs To Famous DJs Asking For Opportunities. Thando also known as Lady Amar was born is the township of Soweto Johannesburg in Gauteng. Although she was born in Soweto, Thando was raised in Orange farm by a single mother and grandmother. She is a very well disciplined child who was taught to be strong from a very young age.

It took her two years after studying to become a dee jay at the Fuse Academy to get a gig and the first one she got did not pay.”I did a 10-week course and after that, nothing happened for two years, but I just told myself that my time was coming.

“I’d send DMs to famous DJs asking for opportunities, but they would leave me on read. Even when that was happening, I told myself that no one owed me anything. I finally went to a club in Soweto and they agreed to give me a chance, but they said they didn’t have money to pay. I agreed to the arrangement because all I wanted was exposure,” she

Thando has had a lot of downfalls. In the year 2012, Thando got her first job where she worked as a waitress at The Bread Basket. She was later promoted to supervisor but unfortunately got retrenched after two years. Thando did not let that stop her though and she then found a new job at a company called BEE STRATA, where she worked as a verification analyst and this was in 2015. In that same year, Thando decided to resign and put all her focus on her music career and that is when everything started coming together. This all was before her now successful music career.
