Zuma Reveals How Far Back His Relationship With Reece Goes And How Their Music Journey Began. Zuma and Reece Madlisa became known as the hit making Amaroto duo. In early 2023, the duo split to pursue their solo careers. In a recent interview on JazziQ’s podcast, Zuma detailed the beginning of his relationship with Reece and how they found their way to music.

Zuma explained to JazziQ how her met Reece way before their industry peers knew them as mates who would always rock up to the studio together and eventually became a duo. “Reece is more like a brother to me actually. He was from next door. Our parents were friends before we were born. They used to go out together, that’s the way those people [their parents]were when they tell us about themselves. So, Reece is that person I can say was my childhood friend. To an extend we became more like brothers because when like he’d want to play soccer, I would join and fail because I;m not good at soccer. If I say I want to play basketball, he would join but he couldn’t play basketball. But we knew when we’re done with everything we will be together,” Zuma said.

“Yeah, so he’s that person who is a brother to me hence even now with whatever is going on, If I ever hear someone slapped Reece, I would drop the mic and run there because I know he’s my brother more than anything,” he added.

“In the music industry, Reece and I, the way we entered is perhaps we loved music and saw that the way it’d be possible was through dance,” Zuma shared. He went on to add how they both used to do their own things, when he was sent to the village, only drums was a source of entertainment and for Reece, he had begun acting. “When I’d visit him and watch him act, I would love what they would be doing on the side which is dance. When I decided to join dance, he also joined dance. So it was something we grew up to… music because there’s no way I’d dance with no music.”

He went on to add that they used to dance to Isibujwa, Kwasa-Kwasa. He added that when he’d be back in the villages, Reece would update him with new styles and send him music with videos.
