Lady Du On Who Introduced Her To Amapiano And Her Big Break After 21 Years. For years, Lady Du struggled with getting her big break as she was doing music but not breaking into the mainstream. Lady DU started her music career at the age of nine, and had been struggling for over 20 years for her big break.

“I became depressed about my situation. I had quit my job because I wasnt happy. The music was not going anywhere, and my family was pushing ee to start a business or go corporate but all I wanted was music.”

Lady Du had to sell her house due to tight finances, and to make matters worse, she had an accident and her car was written off. “I was very depressed, and I overdosed on pills because I had had enough. I attempted suicide and landed in hospital. God said it wasn’t my time to die and I made it out alive.”

Just when she was ready to give up again, she received a call from Mr Jazziq who introduced her to amapiano music. She then recorded two singles ‘Dabula’ and ‘Superstar’. “My song Superstar is me manifesting my life into existence. I sang about being a superstar, driving big cars, and living my dream life and that’s what exactly I received before even a year could end. I have been told that I cant sing and that I was too old. But Mr Jazziq believed in me and motivated me into making more music,” said Lady Du.

Last year she released the single ‘Dakiwe’ with DBN Gogo And Busta 929, and also released another single titled ‘Catalia’ with Junior De Rocka, Mr Jazziq and Mellow; and both these singles were a success. Lady Du was also spotted on a Times Live billboard in New York. This is one of her career milestone and for amapiano music. The sign is sponsored by the well-known streaming platform Spotify, and the two artists are covers of African Heat.
