Somizi Apologizes To Amapiano Artists As He Finally Accepts The Genre. South Africa has earned its place on the map as home to vibrant music and culture. While amapiano is huge in South Africa, it’s also transcended borders. On TikTok, the #amapiano hashtag stands at more than 570 million views. Media personalities like Somizi are on of those who shared their views on amapiano recently.

The media personality was one of those who had thought amapiano a passing fad and imagined the genre would vanish one day. Somizi has finally accepted the genre and apologized to the amapiano artists for sleeping on amapiano. In a recent post to Instagram, the star shared a clip of him vibing to Young Stunna, and Kabza’s Adiwele” song. He praised the genre for its lyrical and artistic merits. “Guys, I would like to apologise to all Amapiano producers. Let me apologise to all the lyricists and to everyone involved in Amapiano that I have been out of line telling you this genre would faze out/die. Take me to church because, wow, lyrically, beatically, musically, it is artistically intelligent. Like the content, guys … The originality, the authenticity, the proudly South Africaness in this genre. I apologise. I profusely apologise for thinking you were just a gimmick, you are not a gimmick,” he said. Check it out:

in case you missed it, Somizi recently lost his position as one of the judges of reality show Idols SA when an audio, in which his estranged husband Mohale claimed he a used him, leaked online. The ratings of the show had plummeted when it was revealed he won’t be returning as a judge.
