South African singer Samthing Soweto has addressed the criticism and conversations surrounding his name, revealing that he is aware of some of the things being said about him, including remarks connected to his ongoing issues with Amapiano heavyweight DJ Maphorisa.

The singer, known for his soulful vocals and contribution to South African music, appears to be taking the situation in stride, acknowledging that people are entitled to their opinions while admitting that some of the stories circulating about him are difficult to hear.

Samthing Soweto’s comments come amid continued conversations about his relationship with DJ Maphorisa, with the two artists having been linked to tensions within the music industry. While the singer did not focus exclusively on Maphorisa in his remarks, his words have brought renewed attention to the discussions and criticism surrounding his name.

Speaking about the things people say about him, Samthing Soweto acknowledged that audiences and public figures often have limited control over how such conversations unfold.

“Some of the things that people say about me, but at the same time I know they’re within their right and there’s very little that me and you as audience can do about those things sometimes,” he said.

The singer also reflected on how public opinion has become part of the entertainment industry, suggesting that some people may benefit from sharing their views and keeping conversations going.

“And I would just want to encourage you – it’s just the nature of the game. And another thing is that, you know, we live in a time where having an opinion is very lucrative and people want to butter their bread, so it’s okay,” he added.

His remarks suggest an understanding that public criticism is often part of life in the spotlight, particularly for artists whose personal and professional relationships attract attention. In an industry where social media can quickly amplify opinions, musicians frequently find themselves at the centre of discussions that extend beyond their music.

However, Samthing Soweto was also candid about the emotional impact of hearing negative stories about himself. While he recognises that people are entitled to express their opinions, he admitted that not everything said about him is easy to accept.

“Because hearing some of the things that they say about me and some horror stories is not – is not nice to be honest, but you know, it’s like we push on,” he said.

The statement reflects his willingness to acknowledge the challenges that come with public scrutiny without allowing them to define his journey. Rather than dwelling on every comment, the singer appears focused on moving forward despite the noise surrounding his name.

The situation involving Samthing Soweto and DJ Maphorisa remains a topic of interest among South African music fans. However, the singer’s latest remarks offer a glimpse into how he approaches criticism and the wider conversations surrounding his career.

For now, Samthing Soweto’s message is clear: although negative stories can be difficult to hear, he understands the nature of the entertainment industry and intends to keep pushing forward.
