Amapiano star and performance powerhouse Toss recently opened up about one of the biggest financial milestones of his music career—revealing the massive bag he secured from a major brand partnership and the heartwarming (yet relatable) way he tried to use it.
Speaking on his biggest career payout, the “Umlando” hitmaker shared that his single largest cheque came off the back of a major corporate deal with global beverage giant Coca-Cola.
“I did a campaign for Coca-Cola, and they gave me ingqwele [a heavy stack],” Toss revealed.
While many breakout stars might use their first major lump sum on luxury cars, designer drip, or high-end studio gear,Toss had his heart set on family first. When asked how he spent the bag, the artist shared that his immediate priority was to upgrade his mother’s living situation.
“I tried moving my mom out the hood with that bag,” he admitted.
However, moving township moms out of the hood is easier said than done. Toss candidly shared that his attempt to relocate her didn’t go quite as planned, acknowledging that the move was ultimately unsuccessful as she wasn’t ready to leave the community behind.
It’s a scenario many successful South African artists know all too well—no matter how big the cheques get, getting omama to pack up and leave the hood they built their lives in remains one of the toughest challenges off the stage!
