DBN Gogo is setting her sights on the Grammy Awards after launching a formal “For Your Consideration” campaign for her latest remix with Ntwana_R. The South African Amapiano DJ and producer is campaigning for recognition in the Best Remixed Recording category with their reimagining of Black Coffee and Monique Bingham’s beloved house classic, “Deep in the Bottom (of Africa).”
The campaign was announced through DBN Gogo’s social media platforms, where she shared the official Grammy “For Your Consideration” artwork alongside a message celebrating the submission.
“For your consideration ✨ Excited to share that our remix with @ntwana_r of Deep in the Bottom (of Africa) by @monique.bingham & @realblackcoffee has been submitted to the Recording Academy for consideration in Best Remixed Recording. Big love to everyone who made this one special @kltrmusic 🖤,” she wrote.
The submission marks another significant moment for DBN Gogo as she continues to expand her influence beyond the South African music scene. Her campaign places her work alongside some of the country’s most recognisable electronic and dance music sounds while highlighting the creative possibilities that emerge when Amapiano meets established house music.
The original “Deep in the Bottom (of Africa)” holds an important place in South African house music. The collaboration between Grammy-winning DJ and producer Black Coffee and vocalist Monique Bingham has remained a celebrated record among house music listeners, making it a notable foundation for DBN Gogo and Ntwana_R to reinterpret.
Their remix brings Amapiano-inspired grooves into the deep-house framework of the original, creating a contemporary version while maintaining the soulful character that made the song resonate with audiences in the first place.
The Best Remixed Recording category recognises producers and artists who transform existing recordings through creative reinterpretation. For DBN Gogo and Ntwana_R, their submission provides an opportunity to showcase how different generations and sounds within South African dance music can intersect.
DBN Gogo has continued to establish herself as an influential figure in Amapiano, both through her DJ sets and production work. Her Grammy campaign now adds another international dimension to that journey.
While a “For Your Consideration” campaign does not guarantee a nomination, the submission itself represents a notable achievement and places the remix in front of Recording Academy voters for consideration.
As the Grammy Awards process continues, attention will now turn to whether DBN Gogo and Ntwana_R’s “Deep in the Bottom (of Africa)” remix advances further.
For now, the campaign is another bold statement from DBN Gogo as she continues pushing South African dance music onto the global stage.
