South African singer and entrepreneur Lady Du has once again used her platform to share advice with fellow artists, this time speaking about the importance of respecting promoters and maintaining good relationships within the music industry.
The amapiano star recently took to Instagram with a heartfelt message aimed at upcoming and established musicians alike. In her post, Lady Du emphasized that promoters play a major role in sustaining artists’ careers and should be treated with respect, especially during both successful and difficult periods in an artist’s journey.
“Dear artists, promoters will remember how you treated them when you are no longer relevant. You need them to stay paid, please remember that,” she wrote.
Lady Du went on to explain that many of the same promoters who supported her earlier in her career continue booking her today, even during periods when she was unable to release new music. According to the singer, maintaining respectful and professional relationships has helped keep her career active despite personal challenges happening behind the scenes.
“I’m still booked by the same promoters till this day and they’ve kept me working even without music,” she shared.
The artist also revealed that many people were unaware of the struggles she was privately dealing with, including a legal case that affected her ability to release music.
“No one knew I was going through a case, no one knew I couldn’t release music, y’all thought I was just quiet?? Angithi nope,” she added.
Lady Du made it clear that her message was not intended to attack or criticize anyone specifically but rather to offer guidance from experience. She described the post as “big sister advice” meant to help younger artists understand the importance of professionalism in the entertainment industry.
“So ngiyan Ncela respect promoters🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼. This isn’t to bash anyone or directed to anyone, I’m just giving you guys big sister advice.”
Her comments come shortly after recent controversy surrounding Scotts Maphuma and the Uganda show dispute involving promoters and payment disagreements. Scotts Maphuma previously stated that he would never perform in Uganda again after the incident sparked widespread debate online.
Although Lady Du did not directly mention Scotts Maphuma in her post, many social media users connected her comments to the ongoing conversations around artist-promoter relationships and professionalism in the music industry.
Fans praised Lady Du for speaking openly and honestly about an issue many artists rarely discuss publicly. Supporters applauded her maturity and willingness to guide younger musicians navigating the pressures of fame and success.
Over the years, Lady Du has become known not only for her music but also for mentoring artists and speaking openly about the realities of the entertainment business. Her latest message once again highlighted the importance of humility, respect, and strong professional relationships in building a long-lasting career.
